Southampton “look at bold loan for Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain”
Southampton ‘looks at bold loan for Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’ 10 years after selling him as a teenager … with Ralph Hasenhuttl seeking reinforcements after losing Danny Ings to Aston Villa
- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain reportedly arouses interest from Southampton
- The midfielder went through the club’s academy before being sold in 2011
- Injuries have hampered his progress at Liverpool and he could be on the move
Southampton’s offer to fill the void left by star striker Danny Ings will apparently see them pursuing a loan deal for Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Ings left for Aston Villa last week in a deal worth more than £ 25million.
Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is determined to reinvest in his squad and talkSPORT reports that a return to St Mary’s for Oxlade-Chamberlain, which has gone through the club’s youth system, is of interest on the South Coast.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was given plenty of minutes by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in the preseason, even experiencing it as a false nine.
But Southampton are said to be confident the Reds are open to offers for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The England midfielder only made 13 Premier League appearances last season with fierce competition for a place in the three-way Liverpool midfielder.

The talkSPORT report adds that Southampton have also made inquiries about the availability of Takumi Minamino, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the club.
Any return to St Mary’s for Oxlade-Chamberlain would also be emotional, having joined at the age of seven and progressing through academy.
Southampton eventually sold him to Arsenal in a £ 15million deal in 2011 before Liverpool bought him for £ 35million in 2017.
Klopp generally used Oxlade-Chamberlain as a central midfielder while at Arsenal he was often deployed in large areas.
Southampton have also reportedly questioned Liverpool on Takumi Minamino’s availability
It is not clear how Hasenhuttl would want to use it if the loan move proves successful.
Oxlade Chamberlain made his first-team debut at Southampton at the age of 16, coming off the bench in a 5-0 win over Huddersfield in 2010.
He then presented 43 times for the first time at Southampton before heading to North London.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is under contract until 2023 at Anfield and Klopp knows the Reds are under no pressure to sell any of their players.
