North Aurora Messenger Public Library Announces 4-Year Strategic Plan – Shaw Local

Messenger Public Library has approved a new strategic plan, guided in part by customer surveys conducted earlier this year, according to a press release.

Online survey questions asked community members about their use of library services and their feedback on Messenger’s collection, resources, technology, staff, and programs, as well as the physical ambience. and the structure of buildings.

Messenger took feedback from its customers to create a new strategic plan for the next four years in hopes of continuing to improve its offerings and grow alongside its community, the statement said.

Messenger has received many positive responses regarding the friendliness and helpfulness of its staff members and the programs they offer for all ages. Patrons also appreciate the extensive catalog that Messenger uses the SWAN interlibrary loan system and its digital content, although many have called for expansion into the digital realm.

Many adult attendees wished there were more spaces and opportunities for certain programs and others asked for more technology-focused programs. Also, better accessibility for book drop and parking, the statement said.

With a new strategic plan, Messenger is focused on improving Messenger facilities based on public feedback, prioritizing staff stewardship, and revamping staffing policies. The library will also continue to expand its resources and services and develop new sections to promote both local history and diversity in the growing community, the statement said.

The Messenger Public Library is located at 113 Oak St. in North Aurora and can be reached at 630-896-0240. Learn more at www.messengerpl.org.
