New team to leverage direct loan sourcing and investment capabilities, as part of JP Morgan Private Capital
NEW YORK, August 9, 2021 / PRNewswire / – JP Morgan Asset Management today announced the expansion of its private lending platform and the appointment of Vincent Lu and Brian Van Elslander as co-heads of the new Global Performing Credit group. M. Lu and M. Van Elslander bring extensive experience in private credit and private equity sponsor coverage (full bios included below). The two new recruits report to Meg mcclellan, Head of Private Credit at JP Morgan Private Capital.
Global Performing Credit will initially target opportunities in the direct lending segment, with plans to expand to other private lending strategies in the future. Biographies – Global Performing Credit
Vincent Lu joins JP Morgan Global Alternatives with over 20 years of private credit experience, most recently as Co-Head of Private Strategies at Wells Fargo Asset Management. Previously, Mr. Lu spent 18 years at Blackstone / GSO Capital Partners in private credit and was involved in corporate performing credit (direct and mezzanine lending) and stressed / distressed investment funds.
Mr. Lu obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics and computer science from duke university, where he was a Phi Beta Kappa Fellow and an MBA from Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania where he was a Palmer Fellow.
Brian Van Elslander previously Co-Head of Private Strategies at Wells Fargo Asset Management. Before that, Mr. Van Elslander spent over 10 years as Managing Director and Group Head of Financial Sponsors at Wells Fargo Securities. He maintained balance sheet responsibility for the loan portfolio of the Financial Sponsors Group and also held the position of Group Head in the Corporate Banking division of the company. During this period, he also served on the Operations Committee of Investment Banking and Capital Markets.
Earlier in his career, he was Managing Director of the Financial Sponsors Group at Credit Suisse and Vice President at JP Morgan in leveraged finance groups and high yield capital markets.
Sir. Van Elslander obtained a bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from University of Michigan, and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was a Wallman Fellow.
